President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday met behind closed doors with the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim K. Idris, 10 days to when the police boss would attain the 60 years mandatory retirement age.

The meeting held at the President’s office at the State House Villa, lasted for about 20 minutes after yesterday’s Friday Jumma’at prayers.

No statement was issued at the end of the meeting. However, sources said it was on the forthcoming retirement of Idris.

Daily Trust Saturday reports that there have been intense lobbying in the presidency for the extension of the service of Idris.

Born on January 15, 1959 in Niger State, Idris was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force in 1984, after graduating from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, where he studied Agriculture.
