Police in Ogun State yesterday confirmed the arrest of a 47-year-old man, Kazeem Adebayo, for allegedly killing his 30-year-old lover, Abosede Adesanya, over N530, 000.

The suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at the Ijebu-Igbo police station by the deceased’s mother, Amoke Onasanya, who said he buried the woman in a shallow grave after killing her.

According to the complainant, her daughter received a telephone call from the suspect informing her that he had gotten a plot of land for her to buy as a result of which the deceased was given N530,000 for the purchase.

Onasanya told the police that a few hours after her daughter left home, her mobile phone was switched off.

The command’s spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said in a statement in Abeokuta that following interrogation, the man led the police to a shallow grave in his house where he buried the woman.
