The Kano State Government has approved the sum of N489,258,000 million as registration fee for the Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations, SSCE, of 29,126 indigenous students.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the sponsored students will seat for National Examination Council, NECO and National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies, NBAIS, after passing the state qualifying examinations.

The Chief Public Relations Officer of the state Ministry of Education, Ali Yusuf, in a statement on Monday, said the approval followed the approval of one of the three submissions the ministry presented to the State Executive Council.

He explained that after deliberations, the council approved option C out of three options proposed by the the Commissioner of Education, Muhammad Sanusi-Sa’idu Kiru ministry for the sponsorship of the students.

“Under this category, the State Government is to sponsor the registration fees of 29,126 students that obtained five credits and above including Mathematics and English in the Qualifying Examinations at the cost of N489,258,000,” the statement reads in part.

While congratulating the students for their good performances, the Commissioner urged them to reciprocate the government’s gesture by ensuring that they pass their NECO and NBAIS examinations with flying colors.
