President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday met with the families of the victims of the Sabon Gari explosion in Kano State.

Suspected Improvised Explosive Device, IED, explosion had claimed nine lives in the Sabon Gari area of the state last week.

The president, who was in Kano for the Annual Air Force Day Celebration, met with the families of the deceased victims at the palace of Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero during a courtesy call to the monarch.

Addressing the families, Mr Buhari commended the state government for being proactive.

He said: “I am in Kano purposely for an engagement but decided to come here to commiserate with you and the people of Kano state over the unfortunate incident.

“I pray for affected families and also praise the state government for being proactive.

Also speaking, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje announced a cash donation to the victims.

“The state government gave N9 million to the affected families, N2 to the injured victims some of whom are at the Greenfield Specialist Hospital and the Armed Forces Specialist Hospital, N1 million to those who are mildly injured.

“More so, there are properties close to the scene that are affected that include two buildings that are damaged, they were given N2 million each and the Winners Academy Nursery/Primary School that was partially affected, was given N1 million,” he disclosed as reported by Daily Nigerian.

On his part the Emir of Kano Aminu Bayero thanked the president for the visit, praying for peace in the country.

According to the emir, Mr Buhari’s visit shows his love and concern to the Kano people.
