Kano State Government Ministerial Committee for the recall of teachers on state government’s payroll that were posted to Private, Voluntary and Community Schools in the state, has discovered 3,268 such employees.

Solacebase reports that barely 3 days after the commencement of the screening exercise, the committee also uncovered a single private school with more than 50 teachers posted from government schools over the years.

This is contained in a statement issued by State Ministry of Education Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Yusuf.

‘’The Committee established by the Commissioner for Education, Malam Muhammad Sanusi-Kiru, under the chairmanship of Dr Ibrahim Bichi, Executive Secretary, Kano State Library Board,  further uncovered that some of the identified staff, have spent more than 10 to 15 years serving in private schools, while enjoying monthly salaries from either state or local government payrolls in addition to furthering their studies for higher degrees ranging from M. Sc and Ph D certificates, ‘’said the statement.

According to the statement, it was also discovered that while on such postings, the teachers are enjoying their consistent promotions up to directorate cadre.

It noted that the exercise is aimed at addressing the lingering problem of teachers shortfall in public schools in the state.

‘’Parents and members of the general public are therefore called upon to be patient, as the whole exercise was aimed at sanitizing the state education system for the better.
