Ganduje’s aide under fire for insulting Emir Sanusi

Salihu Tanko Yakasai, a media aide to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje is being heavily criticized after he insulted the Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi in a tweet.

Kano Focus reports that Emir Sanusi had on Saturday blamed parents of the abducted children in Kano for “criminal negligence”, saying they deserve to be jailed for allowing their children to roam the streets, which makes them vulnerable to kidnappers.

“People are talking that Igbo kidnapped our children, yes they did, but do they enter your house and steal them? Or you left your 3-year-old child roaming the street without knowing their whereabouts until they were missing?,” he asked rhetorically.

“Let’s tell ourselves the truth, I could remember when the case started and complaints were filed at the palace of missing children, what I said at that time was if I am the government I would have ordered the arrest of the parents for their negligence.

“I even asked to find from the then commissioner of police if there is any law on criminal negligence. How can someone appear before the emir and say his 3-year-old or 4-year-old child was missing? Any person who comes to tell the emir that his 3-year-old child has been abducted while playing outside his house deserves to be jailed for criminal negligence,” monarch had said as reported by Kano Focus.

However, in a tweet on Sunday, Mr Yakasai condemned Mr Sanusi, saying the emir would’t have made the comments if his relatives were victims of abduction.

“A very reckless comment to make. I wonder if any of his relatives get kidnapped or stolen if he will feel the same way. The kids are not almajiris for goodness sake. SLS (Emir Sanusi) should have kept quiet instead of opening his filthy mouth to make such insensitive remarks. Nonsense,” Mr Yakasai tweeted through his handle @Dawisu.

But since the tweet was made around 2pm, Twitter users have been attacking Mr Yakasai, who is the son of an elder statesman Tanko Yakasai, for being impudent and disrespectful to Mr Sanusi.
