Executive Jet: Naira Marley Asks ‘Marlians’ To Boycott Airline

Executive Jet Services was on Monday suspended by the Federal Government for airlifting Nigerian musician, Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, from Lagos to Abuja.

There had been outrage and criticisms on social media after the video emerged of Naira Marley hosting a concert at Jabi Lake Mall despite the interstate lockdown and flight restriction.

Naira Marley has taken to his twitter handle to address the flight saga after statement from Executive Jet tagged him and others on board ‘useless’.

In his tweet, he stated that ‘Lool they asked for our names on the jet though and looooooooool ur pilot is a Marlian and everybody there is a Marlian too.. my name is Azeez Adeshina Fashola and my lil brothers name is moshood Babatunde Fashola and u was begging me to tag y’all.

Do u know that over 20,000 Marlians travel with executive jet a month. We won’t be using ur useless airline again for calling us useless. Thank God we didn’t crash on that flight sha because we nearly did. BTW We didn’t book the flight ourselves.’

TNL recalls that Executive Jets Services Limited has tendered an apology to the Federal Government for flying Naira Marley, a singer, to Abuja for a concert.

In a letter addressed to Sirika on Monday sighted by TheNigeriaLawyer (TNL), Sam Iwu, the company’s chief executive officer, apologised over the incident and admitted that the flight was approved to convey a judge to Abuja but said the intended passenger had found his way to Abuja with the help of another flight.

Iwu added that his team later got an offer to convey another set of passengers to Abuja but added that he was confused when he saw the name Fashola Babatunde thinking it was the minister of works and housing not knowing that “it was a bunch of useless people”.

“So on Saturday morning 13th June, 2020 my staff called me that they have a charter flight to Abuja and that the passengers are already in the lounge as a rule passenger manifest is always sent to me before any departure, when I went through the manifest and I saw FASHOLA BABATUNDE I thought it was the Honorable Minister of Works going to Abuja with his men, so we decided to do the flight since (he) is a serving minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I didn’t know that it was a bunch of useless people.”
