Ex-Kano deputy governor confirms dumping PDP

Former Kano State deputy governor, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, has confirmed withdrawal of his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but did not reveal where he would be heading to.

Professor Abubakar made the confirmation to Daily Trust yesterday via SMS when their reporter sent him a text message requesting for confirmation.

“It is true and I will speak soonest,” the message stated.

A letter on his membership withdrawal from the PDP had been in circulation on the social media platforms in the last three days.

Professor Abubakar, a close ally of ex- Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, resigned from his positions as deputy governor to Abdullahi Ganduje and Commissioner of Education on August 4, 2018 and subsequently joined PDP.

He had soon after defecting to the PDP vied for the governorship ticket with sources saying he would be supported by Kwankwaso to win the election but that did not happen
