COVID-19 Lockdown : Pay us hazard allowance, Kano HISBA says

Kano State Hisba Board Staff have decried the state government’s failure to pay them their accrued COVID-19 hard allowance since the commencement of total Lockdown in the State from April, 2020.

The workers assigned to roadblocks to ensure compliance expressed sadness over the nonchalant attitude of the state government to their welfare despite their commitment and dedication to assigned responsibilities.

Some of the Hisba staff who spoke to Solacebase on Wednesday under anonymity said while the Police , Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have been paid, those in Hisba board are still living on promises.

The workers also alleged that they were told that the State government was responsible for the payment of their allowances since they are working in a State owned institution.

“We are told that we will get paid by the Kano State government because we are working with the state government not like the paramilitary, they added.

One of the top official from the board who dose not want his name published told Solacebase that the board has not received any cash from  the state government in the name of staff Hazard allowance since the loackdown over COVID-19 commenced .

According to the source,  that is why the staff are always complaining about the hazard  allowance, coupled with their enormous task .

But when Solacebase contacted the Hisba Commander General ,  Shiek Harun Ibn Sina over the issue, said though the staff have  a right to complain but expressed disappointment that they went to the media instead of making it an in house issue
