Buhari attends Police academy POP in Kano today

President Muhammadu Buhari will today attend the Passing Out Parade (POP) ceremony of the Police Academy, POLAC Kano, Daily Trust online reports.

Daily Trust reports that a total of 602 cadets are passing out from the academy which was established in 1988.

The President is expected to leave Abuja this morning after commissioning the new terminal building of the Nnmadi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.

The institution which was initially for the training of police inspectors and assistant superintendents of police, commenced degree programme during last administration of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

In 2012, the Federal Government of Nigeria upgraded POLAC to a degree – awarding institution and the National Universities commission, accordingly, recognized it as the 37th Federal University and the 124th University in Nigeria.

Academy activities commenced in September, 2012 with the pioneer faculties including; Faculty of Science, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social and Management Science and Faculty of Humanities.

Already, the Police Academy, located at the Wudil area of Kano state, has been filled to the brim with parents and well wishers of the cadets on ground.
