Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has downplayed any notion of seeking revenge against Sporting manager Ruben Amorim when the Gunners host Manchester United on Wednesday night.
Arteta’s side was eliminated from the Europa League by Sporting in 2023, but he insisted that the past result has no bearing on the upcoming match. “Not revenge,” Arteta told reporters.
“In football, it’s about another opportunity. It’s going to be very different.” He added,
“We played against Sporting last week and it was very different to two years ago. It has no meaning.”
