4 NDA cadets beaten over girlfriend

It was a mild drama at the campus of Kaduna State University (KASU) when four cadets of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) were beaten by students of the university following a fight over a female student.

A vehicle belonging to the cadets was also destroyed during the incident on Tuesday at the KASU campus in Kaduna city.

A source in the school told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that the cadets, who are in their second year, were in KASU for the school’s matriculation funfair, featuring live performance, face painting, and dances, when the incident happened.

He said cadets saw a female student hanging out with her boyfriend on the convocation ground and one of them tried to collect her phone number, but she refused.

The source added that when her boyfriend tried to intervene, one of the cadets slapped him, adding that the boyfriend, a KASU student, drew the attention of his fellow students who descended on the cadets with stones and sticks.

He said the cadets tried to escape in their Toyota (Matrix) car, but the students locked the school gates.

“They pelted the vehicle with broken pieces of interlock. One of the cadets who couldn’t get into the car on time was severely beaten,” the source said.

“They luckily escaped after the security personnel at KASU opened the gates.”
