Kano state government has said that it has yet to receive any official communication from a former governor in the state, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso regarding the said donation of a hospital as isolation centre for Coronavirus patients in the state.
It, therefore, dismissed the rumour making the rounds by misguided elements that it had rejected the donation on political grounds.
The state commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba said in a statement on Saturday that as far as the government is concerned, there has not been any official communication to that effect either verbally by himself (Kwankwaso) or through anyone of his aides with the government through the state Task Force, Fund Raising Committee on COVID-19, or any government official.
According to the statement, ‘’We assumed that even if there is the donation, it is not meant for the government to be put to use for the benefit of the people. We only heard about the donation in an audio clip been circulated that he has donated the said hospital to our people, which we assume he is referring to the Kwankwasiyya movement. If only he is sincere about the donation, as a former governor, he ought to know how to communicate officially to a government.’’
Solacebase reports that former Kano State Governor, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso had announced a donation of Amana Hospital to the state government in the management of COVID-19 patients.
The donation was announced in a statement issued by Media Aide to the former governor and immediate Senator, representing Kano Central, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Saifullahi Hassan on April, 20th.
He challenged Kwankwaso to expose any letter if he had written one to the government or any of its official regarding the donation, adding that, ‘’as a government, there is no way it can acknowledge the gesture of a donation without an official coverage letter.’’
It said,‘’ There are many good citizens of Kano state like Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Alhaji Abdussamad Isyaka Rabi’u who have made donations officially to the government of Kano state regarding the prevailing situation in the state, but we have yet to receive that from the Senator even for documentation purposes.’’
The commissioner said that the administration of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has been institutionalizing measures aimed at combating the dreaded disease and condemned those who want to use the situation as a dais to achieve their nefarious intentions.
