Secondary school teacher commits suicide in Kano

Femi Oguntumi, a 40-year-old teacher of Karish College in Kawaji area of Nassarawa local government, Kano State has committed suicide.

DAILY NIGERIAN reported that the deceased, an indigene of Ondo state, was said to have hung himself against a ceiling fan on Friday.

It was also gathered that Mr Oguntumi was discovered dead when his friend came to look for him at a house where he resides, but his co-tenants decided to break his room and found him dead and his body decomposed.

However, the state Police command, through its spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna confirmed the incident on Friday.

He said the incident was said to have occurred at about 10: pm, adding that the body of the deceased had already been deposited at the Murtala Mohammed Hospital’s morgue.

Although late Mr Oguntumi did not leave any suicide note, the Police said they had already commenced an investigation into the incident to unravel the mystery behind the suicide.

Mr Haruna, therefore, said the police commissioner, Iliyasu Ahmed ordered thorough investigation on what pushed the deceased into committing suicide.
