The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the defection of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing his move as that of “a victim of circumstance.”

The comment was made by the party’s factional National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, during an appearance on Channels Television’s Morning Briefing on Thursday.

Ememobong explained that Adeleke’s decision did not come from a lack of loyalty to the PDP but rather from pressures and situations surrounding the internal crisis within the party. He noted that the governor had been caught in the middle of unresolved issues that had created uncertainty within the party’s leadership structure.

According to him, the PDP remains committed to resolving its internal disputes and will continue engaging stakeholders to stabilise the party nationwide. Ememobong also expressed optimism that the governor’s political future would remain tied to the ideals of good governance and service delivery, regardless of his current position.

Governor Adeleke’s defection has intensified political conversations both within Osun State and at the national level, as analysts weigh the implications for the PDP and the broader political landscape.

The PDP spokesperson, however, emphasized that the party is focused on reconciliation and rebuilding, urging members and supporters to remain calm as discussions continue.
