Massive turnout of supporters of Kwankwasiyya movement was recorded on Friday as former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, led the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, Abba Yusuf, and thousands of party faithful to flag off campaign at Bichi.

DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that vehicular movements were brought to a standstill as long motorcades of party supporters from Kano North Local Government Areas of Shanono, Bagwai, Dambatta, Makoda, Tofa, Gabasawa, Gwarzo, Kabo, Rimin Gado, Dawakin Tofa, Tsanyawa and Kunchi converged on Bichi for the inaugural campaign rally.

Addressing the party supporters during the campaign, Mr Kwankwaso called on people of Kano vote for PDP from the lowest level to the highest level to eliminate insecurity, hunger and economic hardship.

While berating the state governor for taking the state, particularly the Kano North Senatorial District, backward, the former governor said Mr Ganduje closed College of Arts and Science Kunchi when the school was in session with 860 students admitted and 162 teachers employed.

He said the governor also closed down Paulty Institute in Dambatta, which he said trained local women in poultry farming to be self-reliant and improve their economic well-being.

According to Mr Kwankwaso, Mr Ganduje also closed down College of Education (Technical) in Tofa, Corporate Security Institute in Gabasawa, among others training institutes across the state.

On his part, the governorship candidate, Abba Yusuf, said if elected, he would restore the lost glory of Kano.

He said his administration would entrench the policies of Kwankwasiyya administration, such as giving free education and uniforms to pupils, revitalising agriculture, execution of developmental projects, among others.

Mr Yusuf also assured the people of the state that foreign scholarship programmes abolished by the Ganduje administration would be fully reimplemented.
