Former Chelsea attacking midfielder Oscar has been banned for eight matches by the Chinese Football Association for his actions that led to a brawl in Shanghai’s game against Gunagzhou R&F.

Oscar kicked the ball against two opposition players – judged to be deliberate – which then started a fight between both teams and several members of coaching staff.

Oscar’s punishment means he will be banned until August 13, and also forced to pay a small fine.

The Brazilian’s punishment was initially uncertain, with the CFA writing to FIFA for their advice on the severity of the charges. It was unclear whether they could accuse Oscar of violent conduct or not.

Oscar did not attend his disciplinary hearing.
