Nigeria’s Amina Mohammed endorses Lesbian, Gay movement

The Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, has endorsed the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans, LGBT, movement.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that UN, and all of its 12 entities, had on several occasions called for an end to violence and discrimination against LGBT individuals.

The UN, in 2015, issued a powerful call to action to States and other stakeholders to do more to protect LGBT individuals from violence, torture and ill-treatment.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that most countries of the world disrespect UN’s stand on LGBT.

While some countries unleash violence on the LGBT individuals, in other countries they are subjected to torture and ill-treatment.

However, in her verified Tweeter handle, Ms Mohammed, who hails from a Muslim-dominated northern part of Nigeria, threw her support on the movement, calling for the acceptance of the LGBT people across the world.

According to her, LGBTs should be treated under the universal human right law where no one is left behind.

“Let’s #Standup4HumanRights to #LeaveNoOnebehind & ensure a life of dignity for all. #Pride #AcceptanceMatters,” she wrote.

Ms Mohammed tweet did not go unnoticed as many Nigerian expressed their dismay on her position.

One of the Tweeter users said Ms Mohammed, who may apparently be doing her job by endorsing the movement, is as well shaking the foundation of her religion which clearly abhors homosexuality, gays, transsexuals and other unholy union.

Another Tweeter user said: “Why force the acceptance of gays and transexuals under the guise of human right? Everywhere you turn, the rainbow logo is staring @ you.

“It is not by force to accept what does not augur well with personal belief or conviction. Soon same will be done for pedophilia/paedophilia.”

“Madam, it would have been better if you declined that job. Supporting gay marriage is not same as supporting equal rights. We are believers and we are a people with culture.

“On this one, you are very wrong and as a Muslim woman, please think it well. This world is ephemeral,” another Muslim Nigerian commented.

However, a Northern Muslim Lady comment in support of Ms Mohammed and what she stood for. She said: “So proud of you for promoting all human rights not just some human rights. This is a true sign of a Muslim and many of us stand with you.”
