Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Yusif Abdullahi Ata, has cautioned Senator Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to refrain from making statements that could further divide the country.
Ata’s plea comes after Kwankwaso, a two-time governor and former minister, alleged that Lagos was attempting to dominate Kano by interfering in the selection of its Emir.
Ata noted that the Kano emirate issue is still pending in court, and Kwankwaso’s recent remarks may be perceived as contempt of court.
Kwankwaso made the contentious comments during the Skyline University Convocation in Kano, stating, “Today, we can see very clearly there is a lot of effort from the Lagos axis to polarize this part of the country… Lagos wouldn’t allow us to choose our Emir.”
In conclusion, Minister Ata’s call for restraint serves as a timely reminder of the importance of responsible leadership in maintaining national unity.
