Prominent leader of Tijjaniyya movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, has warned the governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, against creation of more emirates in the state, saying the wrath of the multitude of Tijjaniyya adherents might fall upon the governor if he went ahead with the decision.
The scholar issued the warning to the governor in an audio message sent to DAILY NIGERIAN on Tuesday.
“I have heard a sad story that Governor Ganduje is still insisting on creating new emirates by sending a new bill to the state Assembly despite a court order that dissolved them.
“I am appealing to Gov. Ganduje to let peace reign not only in Kano, but in Nigeria at large. All of us adherents of Tijjaniyya movement are in support of Emir Sanusi and Kano emirate alone. Whatever affects Kano emirate affects us all, and we will therefore not tolerate it.
“I am calling on him to withdraw this matter since court had dissolved the emirates. He should forgo the decision since the court has restored the the oneness of Kano emirate as it was over 1,000 years ago.
“The best for him is to live peacefully with people and avoid evil prayer. He should not be creating more enemies for himself.
“The Tijjanis are many in Nigeria, and wherever we are in the world, we stand by Kano emirate that brought Sheikh Inyass to Nigeria and entire Africa. We will never forget what the emirate did to us, and we stand by it. We are against whoever is against the emirate.
“On this note, we are drawing the attention of Governor Ganduje to leave this matter since court has dissolved the emirates.
“Ganduje should leave Kano emirate the way he and his forefathers met it. Even Europeans spent 60 years doing their shenanigans but they did not scatter the Kano emirate setting the way Ganduje did today. Military juntas came and left Kano emirate the way they met it. Ganduje should introspect, desist from causing crisis and leave Kano emirate how God made it.
“I am appealing to the governor to avoid anything that will cause unrest and disruption of peace. All followers of Tijjaniya and their supporters are with Emir of Kano and Kano Emirate. We will not tolerate anything against the emirate. Even if we are physically powerless, we are spiritually powerful,” he said.
