Kano Science College wins 2019 ICT quiz competition

Day Science College, Kano has emerged winner of the 2019 edition an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) quiz competition organized by the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD).

The acting Executive Director of CITAD, Mallam Ahmed Yunusa Yakasai disclosed this at the end of the 18th Edition of the ICT Quiz Competition held at Kano State University of Science and Technology (KUST) Wudil.

He said Government Secondary School Gwale won the second position followed by Government Science and Technical College Gwarzo, which got the third position.

Kano Focus reports that other schools that participated in the competition include Government Secondary School, Wudil, Dawakin Tofa Science College, Yusuf Maitama Sule Staff School and Government Girls Secondary School Gwale among others, Kano Focus reports.

In his remarks, Mallam Yakasai explained that CITAD organized the quiz with the aim of assisting secondary school students to acquire ICT skills, adding that CITAD will also establish an ICT Centre meant for training people living with disabilities.

On his part, Dr. Abubakar Dahiru, head of Special Duties at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) commended CITAD for organizing the competition.

He also revealed that NITDA has provided digital capacity building centres in the rural areas and distributed laptops with the goal of assisting students in Kano.
