The Kano state government has banned men and women in the state from boarding the same motorized tricycle (Adaidaita Sahu) from January 2020 in a bid to curtail immorality in the society.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje said this on Wednesday during the 77th Anuual Vacation Course (IVC) organized by the Muslim Students Society at Bayero University , Kano (BUK).

The governor, represented by the Commander General of Hisbah Board, Harun Ibn-Sina, said the move was aimed at deepening Islamic values and enforcing moral standards in the state.

Mr Ganduje also charged participants to face their studies and shun drug abused which he said, destroys the lives of youths, Kano focus reports.

In his remarks, the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar faulted United States’ claims that Christians are being persecuted in Nigeria.

The Sultan said he was also shocked by the Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN)’s revelation that they are persecuted in Nigeria.

He said if such persecution really exists, the issue should have been be tabled at the Interfaith forum where Muslim and Christian leaders meet periodically to discuss issues that would promote harmonious coexistence between two religions.

Sultan Abubakar noted that most atrocities allegedly committed by Fulani herdsmen were not triggered by religion, as not all Fulanis are Muslims.

According to him many Fulanis are atheists whose main interest is to protect their cattle.

The Islamic Supreme leader appealed to Muslim faithfuls not to be provoked by such statement, which he described as false and partial.

In his address Emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi ll cautioned Muslims against growing their needs beyond their resources.

The Emir attributed the increasing rate of out of school children in Muslim North to uncontrolled polygamy and high rate of divorce.

He lamented how Muslim-dominated Northwest and Northeastern parts of Nigeria became the poorest regions due to misunderstanding of Islamic religion.
