Shisha smoking has become increasingly popular with young people in Kano.
An impeccable source told this Newspaper that most shisha smokers inject it with other substances which cause them to lose their sense after smoke.
But there has been growing concern that smoking the fruit-scented tobacco through a bowl and tube could be used to cover up alcohol or drug abuse.
It was also informed that dealers of Indian hemp camouflage with smoking shisha and mixed it with hemp.
Shisha smoking is common in many parts of the metropolis of Kano and it is being spotted in virtually all the major roadside within the GRA in the state.
Shisha is traditionally an activity associated with Arab or Asian groups who freely smoke it, Prime Time News reports.
A source close to the government informed this Newspaper that state government is proposing to ban the smoking of it.
Mr Sulaiman Ramat, blamed the rampant joints of shisha in Kano on government, stating that “stringent measures need to be introduce to ensure that the issue have been addressed”.
It was also learnt that most of the popular joint of smoking shisha is owned by people that have access to power.
However, Islamic scholars have busy preaching against smoking of shisha in most of their sermons.
