Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the immediate reconstruction of the ’Yanshana Bridge in Kumbotso Local Government Area, which collapsed three days ago.
The governor made the announcement at the Government House on Wednesday, shortly after residents of ’Yanshana staged a peaceful protest to draw his attention to the hardship caused by the collapsed bridge.
Governor Yusuf assured the community that his administration would prioritize the project, stressing that the bridge is vital for transportation, trade, and access to essential services in the area.
“We have heard the concerns of the people of ’Yanshana, and we will not waste any time. The reconstruction of this bridge will commence immediately to ease the suffering of our citizens,” he said.
The governor also directed relevant ministries and agencies to mobilize contractors without delay, pledging that the work would be executed to standard in order to prevent future collapse.
Community leaders who accompanied the protesters welcomed the governor’s response and expressed optimism that swift action would restore normalcy.
