Operatives of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission on Tuesday on Tuesday raided some major filling stations within the metropolis suspected to be hoarding petrol in order to create artificial scarcity.

The Executive Chairman of the commission, Mr Muhuyi Gado, who led the team of the operations department of the anti-graft agency and other relevant stakeholders during the raid, said the move had become imperative following series of complaints by the members of the public.

He said the commission had obtained court permission to embark on the raid, adding that to their dismay, during the special operation, the team found most of the filling stations hoarding the product.

Muhuyi, who was accompanied by the head of state office of the National Human Right Commission, the director of operations of the outfit, including some of the anti-graft body’s employees, assured that the commission would continue to partner with all other relevant stakeholders, with a view to halting unwholesome practices.

He warned that the commission would not condone unnecessary hike in the price of petroleum products.

In a statement issued by the spokesman, Nura Dakata, the commission indicated that the team during the operation visited over 20 filling stations located at Tarauni, Maiduguri Road, Western Bypass and Hadejia Road, Punch reports.
