Just in: Zazzau Emirate cancels traditional Durbar celebrations

The Zazzau Emirate council has cancelled the traditional Durbar celebrations during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations in Kaduna state.

This was disclosed by the Sarkin Fulanin Zazzau, Alhaji Barau Musa Aliyu, in a statement on Monday.

According to the statement, the Durbar was cancelled due to the resurgence of COVID-19 and in compliance with the government directives.

Barau said the Emir, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, directed him to inform all the district heads of the development, Sahelian Times reports.

This is following the earlier announcement by Kano Emirate to suspend the traditional celebrations due to COVID-19 resurgence. Katsina and Daura emirates had also suspended their celebrations due to insecurity in the state.
