The All Progressives Congress (APC), on Wednesday, suspended, Chairman, House Committee on National Security and Intelligence at the House of Representatives, Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada.

In a suspension letter jointly signed by the party ward Chairman and Secretary, at Sharada, Kano Municipal, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar and Auwalu Saidu Muhammad respectively accused  the lawmaker of antiparty activities and character assassination of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje

The party leadership at his ward level said in the letter addressed to the APC Chairman at Municipal council that the sanction was adopted after its emergency meeting in Kano.

It said the suspension was sequel to a petition received from APC supporters from Sharada ward on June 8th, 2021.

The letter stated that immediately a seven-man disciplinary committee was set up and given seven days to submit a report on the petition.

It asserted that Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada was also found guilty also of character assassination against the party executives at the ward, local government and state level.

The committee report indicted the former Aide on Broadcast Media to President Muhammad Buhari, Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada, and was suspended for a year, according to the suspension letter.

Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada has been having a running battle with Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje and the party leadership in the state to the extent of ensuring that he was denied registration at the ward level last year.

Some political pundits said the move may spell dome for the party in 2023 elections considering what they refer to as political alienation of APC members close to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada, they said has large youth followers which can be viewed from his emergence as a House of Representative member from the primary level to winning the election in 2019.

Also, recently, a staunch supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari in Kano State, Alhaji Abdulmajid Kwamanda, created a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akida, splitting the party into two in the state, Politics Digest reports.

At a news conference, Kwamanda, who has been championing Buhari’s ideologies since 2003 when he contested for the presidency on the platform of the defunct All Peoples Party (APP), said the state Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, and the APC state caretaker Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, should be held responsible for the crack in the party.
