More facts have emerged on how soldiers rescued Nigeria frontline monarch, Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Okikiola Akinolu, from the irate youths in a rage that affected his Palace, and other institutions like the Television Continental (TVC); the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA); the multi-million naira Ojodu office of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), among others.

The youths, checks by Platforms Africa showed, made several attempts to burn down the Palace before a team of soldiers arrived. The soldiers were responding to a distress call personally made by Akinolu, a retired senior Police officer.

Confirming this, the Personal Assistant to the monarch, Mr. Adeoye Olumegbon, declared that the soldiers came in about five vehicles in responce to the distress call. They evacuated the monarch before a finger is laid on him.

“Thugs have vandalised and looted the palace,” Olumegbon who refuted reports that the Palace was razed, said.

“No one is dead but they carted away valuable properties. More importatntly, Kabiyesi is safe. Soldiers came to rescue him.”

Earlier, Lagos-based privately owned television station, Television Continental (TVC) was attacked by some youths who razed Outside Broadcasting (OB) Van and other assets at the station.

Another set of irate youths also burned the NPA, FRSC and VIO offices, and some banks.

Channels TV, another privately owned Television station in Lagos was also off the air following a yet-to-be-confirmed reported attack by unknown persons.

Although details were sketchy, for iver 30 minutes, the logo of the station was frozen on the screen.
