A housewife has been arrested by the Kano Police command for allegedly pushing her rival along with an 18-month-old baby into a well in Rano local government area Kano state.

The suspect, Hauwa Lawan was said to have fled the town immediately after plunging the victim, Zuwaira Sani into the pit.

According to a Freedom Radio report, Mrs Zuwaira died shortly after she was rushed to a hospital in Rurum town, where she was taken by police officers who responded to a distress call on the incident.

But Mrs Zuwaira’s baby, Mustapha Sani is alive and receiving treatment, Kano Foucs reports.

Confirming the incident, spokesperson of the Kano Police, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said the suspect, Mrs Hauwa, was trailed and arrested following an order by the state Commissioner of Police Habu Sani Ahmadu.

Mr Kiyawa,a deputy superintendent of police, said the case has been transferred to the homicide department at the state police headquarters in Bompai area of the city for further investigation.
