All is set, as preparation begins for the commencement of Honorable Gambo Abdullahi Accro football scouting tournament in Kaduna.

The tournament which will take place at Kotoko Barracks, Ribadu Cantonment, NDA Kaduna is aimed at identifying talented youth footballers with the potentials of going very high in the game.

Speaking on the tournament, a prominent coach, who doubled as the chairman of the tournament LOC, Muhammad DK popularly known as Coach DK, said all they want is so to create enabling environment for young footballers from streets to attain their full potentials.

“You know we have a lot of good players locally playing on the streets. But lack of this kind of tournaments discourages and kill their dreams and potentials. You will see a very good player, but does not know where or who he will approach for help. You will ask a youth player on the street where he will like to play for in the future, he will tell you that he wants to play of Real Madrid or Manchester United, but he does not know where to start from. So, many talents are being wasted on the street. Some started very good, but lack of good coaches and managers force them to drop out of the game.

“We therefore want to change the narrative. We want to raise local players from streets to help them improve their playing styles, their thinking and approach to the game.

“The main aim is to start with our immediate environment, Hayin Baki, NDA Barracks and Kawo all in Kaduna North Local Government of Kaduna state.”
