Angry youths in Kano have killed gunmen suspected to be armed robbers.
The suspects were burnt alive at Rimi village in Sumaila Local Government Area of the state.
Three suspected armed robbers were said to have stormed Rimi town but they were repelled by the youths.
While two of them were caught, one managed to escape.
The angry youths beat up those they caught and eventually burnt them alive.
The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident to newsmen.
According to him, the command received a distress call that a mob set two notorious armed robbers on fire.
He said when Police arrived at the scene, they found that the robbers were burnt to ashes and they evacuated their remains to hospital.
Kiyawa added that “We have recovered knives and other weapons believed to belong to the deceased suspects.
“As of now, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Samaila Shuaibu Dikko, has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter,” Daily Trust reports.
DSP Kiyawa called on the people of the state to desist from taking law into their hands in order to avoid killing innocent persons.
He cautioned the general public that whenever suspects are arrested, they should be handed over to police for investigation.
