Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has inaugurated Rtd Major General, Muhammad Inuwa Idris as the commissioner for the newly created ministry of Home Affairs Internal security.

The Governor announced the portfolio shortly after inaugurating the new boards of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Yusuf Maitama Sule University and Kano State Polytechnic.

Daily Trust reports that the ministry was created about five months ago but there was no commissioner assigned for the portfolio until now.

The governor charged the newly appointees to play their roles with skills and efficiency while taking bold steps in providing governance and leadership that will stimulate rapid growth.

Daily Trust reports that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had sent the name of Major General Muhammad Inuwa RTD, as the commissioner nominee to the Kano House of Assembly for screening.

Maj. Gen. Idris is the former commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna. He served in a variety of roles over three decades, including chief of staff for the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps.

After his retirement from active duty, he served as registrar for Baze University in Abuja. He holds two master’s degrees from the National Defense University in Washington, D.C., and has studied at defense institutions in the United Kingdom and Pakistan.

He received the Golden Jubilee Medal-Centenary Medal for Nigerian Servicemen and the Grand Service Star Medal in recognition of 30 years of service.
