Some people who are believed to be supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kano State have destroyed all the portrait pictures of the Emir Mohammadu Sanusi II at the state Government House.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that at the conclusion of Saturday’s supplementary election, Mr Ganduje won after having scored 1,033,695 votes against PDP’s Abba Kabir-Yusuf’s who polled 1,024,713.

However, it was gathered that the jubilant crowd had become angry with the monarch over his indifference towards Mr Ganduje’s re-election bid.

Recall that the Emir had condemned the increasing political violence in the state, urging the security agencies to be alive to their responsibilities.

He expressed disgust particularly at the violence that broke out during the supplementary election area around the Kano City, which left several people wounded and properties destroyed.

“The violence in the past two days in the metropolis is condemnable with attacks on innocent citizens and destruction of valuables.

“It is sad that spilling of blood now means nothing to some people so long as they achieve their inordinate ambition,” Mr Sanusi said.

The Monarch, while appealing to politicians to call their followers to order, noted that no society could develop in a chaotic environment.
