GandujeGate: Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil resigns as adviser

The Special Adviser to Kano State governor on Special Duties, Ibrahim Khalil, has resigned.

Although the cleric-cum-politician did not state his reason for dumping the governor, credible sources said Mr Khalil’s decision may not be unconnected with the video clips showing the governor receiving bribe as reported by Daily Nigerian.

“Mallam is not happy with the issue of these video clips, and he is convinced that they are genuine. So he resigned from the governor to protect his integrity,” said a source closed to the cleric.

The governor is currently facing probe and imminent impeachment by Kano State House of Assembly over the issue.

Mr Khalil, who twice vied for governor, is an influential religious leader in Kano.
