Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has reiterated his commitment towards hastening the construction of a state-of-the-art Cancer Centre in the state.

The governor made this known in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Abba Anwar, in commemoration of this year’s World Cancer Day: themed ‘I Can, We Can’.

The statement recalled that the foundation of the Multi-Billion Naira Centre was recently laid by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, situated adjacent to Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital, Giginyu, in the state.

“It is because we believe we can and all other stakeholders can put hands together with us that, we decided to put in place this befitting Cancer Centre in the state.

“This will take care of many patients from many states of the federation. And when completed, it will be the best Cancer Centre in the country,” the statement noted.

Mr Ganduje further disclosed that the decision to establish the centre was as a result of his visit to Melbourne, Australia sometime last year, where he saw a World Cancer Centre.

From there, he revealed: “I said our state needed something like that. We then worked it out assiduously with some selected global experts in Cancer treatment. An action that takes us to where we are now. My visit to Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, fruited what we are seeing now in Kano.” Daily Nigerian reports.
