Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has reappointed the suspended district head of Tudun Wada local government, Dankadan Kano, Dr Basheer Mohammed Dankadai, as the Chairman of the Board of Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency.

Mr Dankadai was suspended by Emir of Rano, for his refusal to pay homage to newly created Rano emirate, and instead pledged allegiance to the Emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi II.

A trained medical doctor, Mr Dankadai was a pioneer chairman of Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency.

The governor has also appointed Executive Secretary of the agency Dr Halima Muhammad Mijinyawa as the Secretary of the Board.

Other members of the Board include Halima Musa Yakasai, who is the representative of the State Ministry of Health, Musa Namadi Karefa, (Director Salary) is the representative of the Office of the Head of Service and Tayyeb Na’Abba (Director Budget) is the representative of the State Ministry of Budget and Planning.

The remaining are representative from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), a representative of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Hafsat Kolo is the representative of the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), and Muhammad Isyaku Yammedi, is the representative of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The rest are Dr Maryam Muhammad Suleiman, who is the representative of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), a representative of Joint National Public Service Negotiation Council, Hadiza Salisu Rogo and Yakubu Abdullahi Esq.

Representatives of some agencies whose names were not given, would be provided later by the affected agencies and/or bodies.

The governor congratulated all the appointees over their appointments, and charged them to maintain their zeal and commitment towards having a more robust contributory agency, for the overall development of the health sector.

“I want also call their attention to prove to all that, this initiative is worth doing in our state. We also want prove to all that the law that establishes this Agency is people-centred and workable,” he said as reported by Kano Focus.

Governor Ganduje added that all those that were appointed in the Board, have proven track record, which paves way for their new appointments, assuring that “we are certain that they will also comply with the global best practice in the dis discharge of their responsibilities.”
