The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, says the role of female officers and soldiers in the Nigerian Army is vital to achieving operational objectives in the war against Boko Haram.

The COAS stated this yesterday during the opening ceremony of the Nigerian Army Women’s Corps training week at the headquarters of the 3 Armoured Division, Maxwell Khobe Cantonement In Rukuba, near Jos.

Buratai said: “They are vital to the attainment of Nigerian Army operational objectives especially in the north eastern  part of the country where women and girls are involved in insurgencies as either victims or villains or require special female attention.” Daily Trust reports.

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong, represented by his deputy, Sonni Tyoden, said the training was timely considering the task given to the Armed Forces to end all forms of insurgency in the country, especially in the northeast.
