The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, on Tuesday, condemned the increasing political violence in the state, urging the security agencies to be alive to their responsibilities.

The emir expressed the displeasure at his Palace on Tuesday, while addressing journalists over security situation in the state ahead of the upcoming general elections.

He expressed disgust particularly at the violence that broke out in the last two days around Kano city, which left several people wounded and properties destroyed.

“The violence in the past two days in the metropolis is condemnable with attacks on innocent citizens and destruction of valuables.

“It is sad that spilling of blood now means nothing to some people so long as they achieve their inordinate ambition,” he said as reported by Daily Nigerian.

The Monarch, while appealing to politicians to call their followers to order, noted that no society could develop in a chaotic environment.

Mr Sanusi emphasized the need for security agents to arrest the situation before it degenerate to lawlessness.

The Emir therefore called on all stakeholders to exercise restrain for peace to reign before, during and after the election.
