DSS Releases Detained Kwankwasiyya Supporters

A staunch Kwankwasiyya supporter , Salisu Hotoro, and Babangida Bangis have regained their freedom from the custody of Directorate of Security Services(DSS) in Kano after 12 days of detention.

A statement by Spokesperson to Kano state PDP Governorship Candidate, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa said the two social media activists were arrested two weeks ago for an undisclosed offence as the DSS’s attempt to charge them to court received setback when the security operatives withdrew them few hours after arriving the court premises for lack of reason to present before the court.

The statement said, ‘’We believe they couldn’t find any offense to charge them to, so they were taken back to the DSS cell, a dark room with no ventilation that was designed to humiliate detainees which is against the cardinal principles of fundamental human rights.’’

It noted that, ‘’Salisu’s release came at a time when the opposition party (PDP) cried for justice and calls for a peaceful protest against intimidation, harassment, unlawful arrest and threats to life for its members by the security apparatus in Kano State allegedly orchestrated by the ruling APC and Kano State Government under the watchful eyes of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Upon this development, the PDP leadership would meet and communicate the next steps on the forthcoming peaceful protest planned to take place Thursday the 18th of April, 2019.
