Dambazau dumps Kwankwaso for Ganduje

A former commissioner for Special Duties in Kano State, Idris Dambazau, has joined the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Mr Dambazau is a retired army general and elder brother to the current Internal Affairs minister, Abdulrahman Dambazau.

The retired general, who chaired the Kwankwasiyya Security Committee, came under fire in August 2015 for his refusal to return three government vehicles three months after leaving office as commissioner as reported by Daily Nigerian.

But sources told DAILY NIGERIAN that Mr Dambazau’s decision to support Mr Ganduje may not be unconnected with the choice of Mr Kwankwaso’s in-law, Abba Yusuf, as the PDP governorship candidate.

At a rally attended by the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje and other party leaders on Monday in Kano, the former commissioner accused Mr Kwankwaso of “autocracy, high-handedness and undermining all the Kwankwasiyya achievements.”

Mr Dambazau, who appeared at the rally in red cap, later surrendered the cap to be burnt by the governor.
