Kano state mobile courts have revealed that it has recorded 972 cases of violation of the lockdown order in one week as well as sealed an operating motor park and a superstore within the metropolitan.
This was disclosed by the Spokesman of Kano state Judiciary Baba Jibo Ibrahim on Tuesday during the weekly update on the mobile courts’ activities in the state.
Solacebase reported that Kano State Chief Judge, Justice Nura Sagir Umar, had on April, 28th inaugurated 11 mobile courts to try offenders who defy the COVID-19 lockdown order in the state.
According to him, Unguwa Uku motor park was found conducting activities in the park as against the lockdown order adding that a driver was convicted and fined N10, 000 for violation of the order.
Mr Jibo added that Mudassir Gallery was also sealed by the mobile court for violation of the lockdown order adding that other violators were found guilty of violating the order and as usual some of them were sentenced to community service while others were fined.
The Spokesman also revealed that, the court set free those found with genuine reasons.
He further revealed that the court also apprehended some businessmen who violated the order by opening their warehouses in the night at Kantin Kwari market to distributes wares to their customers, the court found them guilty and prosecuted them
