Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State disclosed this on Monday during live broadcast at Government House, Kano.

The governor also directed the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to liaise with owners of event centres across the state to stop their businesses henceforth for the general well-being of the public.

However, the govenor enjoined trado-religious leaders across the state to regulate social gathering as well as places of worship as advised by health experts to avoid putting people’s lives at risk.

Ganduje said: “It is important to note that the emergency preparedness and response sub-committees have been constituted in all the 44 local government areas and 448 political wards of the state.

“I hereby declared that the Kano State Government has suspended official events that attracts gathering of people for the time being.

“Our trado-religious leaders are part of the major stakeholders in the government efforts, hence, it is very important for them to regulate all place of worships and social gathering.

“People should try as much as they can to avoid gathering of more than twenty people for their safety and the safety of the state.”

The governor further said that  isolation centres for management of cases have been designated, adding that it is pertinent for the public to note that all the necessary precautions have been taken by the state government as everyone has understood the need for proactive responses against the global pandemic.

Ganduje added: “All hands must be on deck to stop the threats posed by the disease and panic amonsts the citizenry.

“A task force committee has been set up, which is headed by the deputy govenor, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gwawuna and co-chaired by Abdurrazaq Garba Habib. The task force is fully loaded with health experts and professionals.

“It is this committee that is spearheading the proactive measures taken my the state government and guide all other stakeholders for proper engagement and apt coordination against the urgly situation.”

Transport unions also were ordered to join the state efforts in making proper arrangement in all the motor parks in the state, as the position is hard but necessary for the state’s well-being. The Triumph reports.
