A Federal High Court, sitting in Kano State, on Wednesday, nullified the ticket of Kano Municipal Federal Constituency candidate, Sha’aban Sharada in the forthcoming general elections.
Mr Sharada, the Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Broadcast Media, contested and won the ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC for the House of Representatives seat.
But, the presiding Judge, Justice Sa’adatu Ibrahim, in a ruling said the primary election that produced Sha’aban Sharada was faulty as reported by Dail.
She, therefore, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to recognize Mukhtar Ishaq Yakasai as the duly elected APC candidate of the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency in the general election.
Recall that Mr Yakasai, a former Chairman of Kano Municipal Council, instituted the case against Mr Sharada, on the ground that he was the person duly elected at the APC primary election, held last year.
But, amidst the ongoing court case, the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, recently appointed Yakasai as a Commissioner for Special Duties.
