An Ado-Ekiti magistrate court yesterday remanded a 45-year-old man, Ajibade Olaoluwa, in prison for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.
The accused, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a charge of rape.
The prosecutor, Mr Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 23 in Ayede-Ekiti.
He said the accused defiled the 13-year-old girl who was sent on an errand.
The prosecutor told the court that the brother of the accused, who lured the victim into the house, held the victim’s legs while he was raping her.
He said the victim’s noise drew the attention of neighbours who entered the room and met her on the bed crying.
The prosecutor also urged the court to remand the accused in prison pending receipt of legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.
The plea of the accused was also not taken and the case was adjourned till March 4 for mention.
