The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Police on Tuesday announced that the command had rescued an eleven-year-old boy, one Muhammed Ya’u, who was kidnapped at PRP Quarters Kano in 2014 and sold for N2000,000 at Onitsha in Anambra State.

A press statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abdullahi Haruna, Police Public Relations Officer on behalf of the states’ Commissioner of Police said the “victim was kidnapped by one Paul Onwe and Mercy Paul and sold to one Ebere Ogbodo at the sum of N200,000.

According to the police statement, the eleven years old Hausa lady was “renamed as Chinedu Ogbodo.”

The police said “In continuation of the Command’s effort to rescue the children kidnapped from Kano to other parts of the Country, between November 5, and 8,the Command’s Anti- Kidnapping Team of Operation Puff Adder carried out another rescue operation.”

DSP Haruna disclosed that all the suspects arrested in connection with the “criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, concealment and keeping in confinement kidnapped, buying and selling of minors /trafficking in person” were currently under investigation.

The Kano police command therefore assured that effort is in top gear to rescue more kidnapped children.

The Command further commended the good people of the state for their support, patience and their efforts in fighting all forms of crime and criminality in the State.
