Contrary to videos circulating online that First Lady Aisha Buhari has returned to Nigeria, credible sources in the Presidency said the wife of the president is still in London.
Mrs Buhari left Nigeria in the early August for London, from where she proceeded to Saudi Arabia after a brief stay.
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that after the completion of the Hajj, she returned back to London where she is now convalescing after medical check-up.
Speculations are rife that there is estrangement between the president and his wife over alleged plan by the president to marry the minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Farouk but checks showed there is no substance in the speculation.
DAILY NIGERIAN however learnt that the absence of the first lady may not be unconnected to the reappointment of some key officials she had previously accused of caging the president.
Credible Presidency sources who spoke to DAILY NIGERIAN on the condition of anonymity said Mrs Buhari is still in London for “vacation and normal medical checkup”.
“She always laughs when we told her about the rumours circulating at home. I want to tell you that there is no issues with her relationship with the husband.
“She is just whiling away her time there. Of course she sees doctors but the ailment is not anything serious.
“Le me ask you this question: when the president traveled to London and spent about three months attending to his health, did she stay with him them there? They have their our way of living their lives,” said the source.
On the videos circulating online showing Mrs Buhari shouting and complaining about her being locked out of the residence, the source said the videos are actually real but old. “Madam was secretly filmed more than one year ago when the residence was ordered to be locked by Mamman Daura.”
“I was the time she lost her temper against the old man. That particular incident forced Mamman Daura out of the Villa.”
On whether she set date for her return to Nigeria, the Presidency source said she planned not to announce the date of her return.
The spokesman for the first lady, Sulaiman Haruna, could not be reached for comment at the time of filing in this story.
