Kano State is in the news again with more than 12 high profile death on Saturday.
Among the high profile deaths on Saturday were academics, banker, politicians, business tycoons and technocrat.
Among those high profile deaths are Prof Ibrahim Ayagi the CEO of Hassan Gwarzo School and former National Economic Adviser to Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, Alh. Dahiru Rabiu Former Kano Grand Khadi, Prof. Aliyu Umar Dikko of Physiology department BUK and Mal Musa Tijjani, the former Editor of Triumph Newspaper.
Also among the high profile deaths on Saturday in Kano include captain Abdullahi Gyadi Gyadi, Dr Musa Umar Gwarzo, Alh. Adamu Isyaku Dal former Subeb boss, Dr Nasiru Maikano Bichi Secretary Student Affairs Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Alh Salisu Lado, Alh. Garba Sarki Fagge, Hajia Shamsiyya Mustapha and Hajia Nene Umma.
Solacebase had reported on Monday that over the weekend, more than 60 deaths were recorded at three major cemeteries in the metropolis.
In an interview on a Channels television program, Politics Today, Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje denied reports of increasing deaths in the state, describing Daily Trust report as fake news. He said in a quote ”only 13 people died”.
Although the deaths have been rumoured to related coronavirus, however medical experts say it would be too early to assume that the deaths were COVID-19 related.
‘’’The deaths have to be investigated by epidemiologists to determine reasons behind the increasing deaths, ‘’said Dr. Usman Bashir of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
